International House Cape Town ( www.ihcapetown  ) is the accredited OET test venue and we are looking for a dynamic, vibrant and motivated individual to join our team as the OET Venue manger. The venue manager is responsible for the general organization and administration of the test before test day, on test day, and the conclusion of all administrative processes after the test.

Qualifications/experience required

  • CELTA [ or equivalent] and a minimum of 5 years teaching experience
  • Strong administrative skills and experience
  • Previous leadership experience preferred but not required
  • Exam experience (IETLS, TOEFL, Cambridge exams etc) an advantage

Key areas of responsibility

Before test day

  • Email OET with information needed for their administrative duties
  • Organize speaking slots of test candidates and email them individually
  • Reply to any queries regarding transport, accommodation, training and other general questions sent to the OET email inbox
  • Print out the test day documents and schedules needed for test day
  • Set up venue for test day (check cloak rooms, numbers on tables, sound check etc)

On test day

  • Open the venue at 07:00 to do final venue check
  • Start registration at 07:30
  • Direct candidates to cloak rooms at 08:45
  • Invigilate written test 09:00 – 12:00
  • Organize and check interlocutors at 12:30
  • Supervise the speaking slots
  • Collect the speaking recordings from interlocutors
  • Fill in test day documents for OET admin

After test day

  • Upload speaking recordings and test day documents to FTP server
  • Prepare DHL delivery and/or scanned documents
  • Reply to any queries from OET

Training responsibilities

  • Do basic training with new interlocutors
  • Design new preparation courses for candidates
  • Teach preparation courses for candidates (face-to-face and online)
  • Organize training sessions for teachers and OET trainers
  • Market OET preparation courses to existing and potential OET candidates

Other duties include

  • Basic cover for EFL classes

Job weighting

  • OET admin duties – 70%
  • Cover for EFL classes – 30%
